Weather conditions, as in 1991, were characterized by lack of precipitation and slightly higher than average air temperatures. As a result, the upper layer of soil and plant litter became dry, and numerous small creeks and ponds dried out.

Breeding conditions:

Arctic Foxes were rare in the Chegitun river basin. In August waders were recorded in inland tundras only occasionally.

Lemmings were almost absent while voles and shrews Sorex spp. were quite common.
